Eric's 1954 "Virginia" Stratocaster fueled his Grammy-nominated release Tones and Grammy-winning album Ah Via Musicom. The sound of these records was fueled by an incredibly special axe: Johnson's 1954 "Virginia" Stratocaster. Now, for the first time, this legendary axe has been replicated by both Fender Custom Shop and Fender's Corona production line in limited quantities, featuring the hallmarks of Eric's sound: with a unique tonewood combination, custom electronics, and authentic 1954 specs. Whether you're a player or collector, this guitar will inspire awe in anyone lucky enough to pick it up. Its two-piece Sassafras body connects with a 5/4 Quartersawn maple neck, giving it a rock-solid in hand feel with a resonant body, loads of sustain, and a soft "V" shape neck that makes navigating the guitar's 21-fret maple fingerboard a breeze. Plus, its body and neck are finished in a thin nitrocellulose lacquer, just as it would have been in 1954. Two Original '57/'62 Single-Coil Strat pickups occupy the neck and middle positions for classic Fender cleans, while the DiMarzio HS-2 bridge pickup delivers a crispy humbucking sound in a single-coil size, so you have loads of tonal versatility. So, whether you're a diehard Eric Johnson fan, or if you simply appreciate quality, vintage-inspired Fender electric, this Stories Collection 1954 "Virginia" Stratocaster is a fantastic guitar through and through.
