Description
What’s special about this banjo: This is a great playing, gorgeous sounding Deering Black Diamond banjo. These are pretty hard to come by used and this one is in great shape! This piece came to us as part of a larger collection and all of the instruments have been well-cared for. The 5-string long neck design really makes this an attractive piece and the sound and playability are second to none.
Condition: Great shape overall! Some of the metal components have some tarnish or blemishing and there are a few very light surface scratches and dings throughout the instrument. Fingerboard and frets have very light play wear and tons of life left in them. The neck is nice and straight with super comfortable action and the truss rod functions perfectly. All parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: 11: diameter custom black banjo head with 24 lugs on a brass tension hoop. Beautifully engraved arm rest and tailpiece with a maple-based Ebony saddle. Open-back maple pot with dual metal coordinator rods and a no-hole angled tone ring. A nice leather strap was placed beneath the treble side lugs around the body and we are leaving it in place.
Neck: Tropical American Mahogany neck with a very smooth Ebony fingerboard. Hand-engraved decorative diamond inlays and a sliding capo on the 5th string. 1 ¼” nut. The headstock features a beautiful dark overlay with pearloid Deering logo and star. Nickel machine tuners with pearloid buttons. 32 7/64” scale length.
Weight: 9lbs, 7.0oz.
Case: Includes original hardshell case. There is a nice custom engraved plaque on the front of the case.
