Description
What makes this guitar special: These don't come around very often, so it's a real treat to have one as cool as this in the shop! According the Vintage Guitar Guide, Duo-Trons debuted in 1947 & were made into the '50s. Fully hollow body with a solid top & gorgeous flame maple back & sides. The floating neck pickup has a really dark tortoise cover, similar to the tailpiece mount, which features master volume & tone controls along with a veritone-style push button. The guitar produces a wonderful warm, rich tone with a beautiful, natural acoustic resonance. Professionally inspected & set up by the experts at Cream City Music, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: Really great shape for its age with some typical wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. There's an unrepaired crack in the top, just below the treble-side F-hole & a professionally repaired crack near the bass-side F-hole. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Slender profile mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block & single dot inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with mother of pearl VEGA & star inlays. Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" nut width; 25" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Single cutaway, hollow body in sunburst finish. Solid spruce top with 3-ply binding & dual F-holes. Trapeze tailpiece with top-mounted controls, floating rosewood bridge & bound tortoise pickguard. Flame maple sides & back with single-ply binding. 17" lower bout width; 3 1/2" depth. Guitar weighs 5 lbs 12.3 oz.
