Description
This special, hand-crafted Stratocaster is a recreation of a limited number of Tri-gold Stratocasters produced in 1957. The HLE's were offered from '88 to '89 and were based on Homer Haynes' original 50's Strat. These guitars were basically a '57 Reissue in gold with gold hardware and included two pickguards - one single ply white and the other gold anodized. A total of 500 guitars were made & this particular one is # 492.
This gorgeous guitar is also a "new old stock" model, meaning it was never sold to the public. We recently acquired it in its original shipping box. The white pickguard still has its original plastic wrap over it & the trem arm hole still has the orange sticker covering it. What we have here is basically a time capsule dating back about 25 years! This gorgeous guitar is in pristine condition aside from some very light finish checking & is a guaranteed "must have" for any serious collector.
Cosmetic Condition: Spectacular condition - like new with only some very light finish checks across the body. After the guitar was photographed it was placed back in its original case & box. It is not on display in our showroom & will only be shown to prospective buyers upon special request.
Neck: V-shaped maple neck with skunk stripe & black dot inlays. Frets are in perfect condition. Vintage-style tuners in perfect working condition. Old style Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock with numbers 492 of 500. Neck is straight & truss rod is in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length.
Body: Contoured solid alder body finished in gold with gold hardware & gold anodized pickguard. Single-ply white pickguard is included. Vintage-style tremolo bridge with gold trem arm. Single-ply white trem cover. Guitar weighs 8lbs 10oz.
Pickups: Fender Custom Shop single coils with staggered poles. Master volume & dual tone controls; 3-way selector switch; 5-way switch is included in the accessories bag.
Case: Original tweed hardshell case included along with the original Certificate of Authenticity, warranty card, Fender leather strap & bag of accessories.
