Description

What makes this guitar special: If there was a guitar that ever exemplified the term “sleeper,” this would be it. Although the brand is unknown, and the construction may make many purists scoff, this is a fantastic little guitar. For starters, it has a surprising volume ceiling for a guitar of its size. The dynamic range is rather large as well, and the top is exceptionally expressive. It has a concentrated and compressed low end, which is a feat in itself for a parlor to even have one, especially without rosewood back and sides. The mid-range is lively and has a ton of pop and attack that gives it a slightly rounded and warm sound without losing any clarity. The top end is similarly articulate and full of chime. If the tone wasn’t enough, it also has a unique charm from the overall patina that gives it an undeniably great vintage vibe. Plus, it weighs in at less than 2.5 lbs, making it a cannon for its size.

Condition: This guitar is in good condition overall, if not better. It does possess various forms of wear including nicks, dings, dents, gouges, scuffs, binding cracks, and scratches, but still looks good and plays and sounds fantastic. The frets show mild wear but still play just fine head to toe and still have a good amount of life left in them. There is no truss rod, but it still plays just fine all the way up to the body.

Body: Parlor body shape/size with a solid spruce top and laminate mahogany back and sides with a painted overlay. Top binding with striped purfling. Two-ring striped rosette. Uncompensated rosewood bridge. Plate-cut ornate tailpiece.

Neck: V-shaped hardwood neck and rosewood fingerboard with 3-dot inlay pattern. Slotted headstock. 3-per-side open-gear tuning machines. 1 7/8” nut width. 24.5” scale.

Weight: 2 lbs 5.7 oz

Playability/Sound: Even with a bit wider nut, the V shape on this neck plays surprisingly easy. For players unfamiliar with its shape, it may take a little adjustment, but any with past experience should find it an absolute breeze to move around. The overall tone is incredibly expressive for its size and construction, with a mellow and concentrated low end, excellent mid-range character with a ton of pop and attack, and an articulate top end with both chime and purity.

Case: Includes hardshell case.
