Martin has re-imagined the heralded D-28 model for 2017, introducing several features that make the new version even better. The new D-28’s design takes several cues from vintage Martins, with its open gear tuners, antique white accents, and faux tortoise pickguard. These all contribute to the guitar’s warm, classic aesthetic, but none more than the aged toner Sitka Spruce top. The aged top gives the guitar somewhat more of a vintage look, while also giving it the sound of a dreadnought that’s been warmed up and broken-in. The new D-28’s forward-shifted bracing enhances resonance and sustain, while a Modified Low Oval neck shape ensures smooth fretting-hand feel across its ebony fingerboard.
