The HALO features five primary controls, allowing users to create tons of conventional and experimental-sounding delays. The Level and Time knobs set the volume and length of the delay, while the FDBK knob controls the number of times the delay repeats. These controls alone can be used to create a world of ambient chorus and flanger effects, perfect for everything from '80s glam-rock to modern-day alternative. Using the Rate and Depth knobs, players can change the rate and the amount of modulation on the delay, and tweaking these controls can lead to some truly otherworldly tones.
If you're a fan of fine-tuning your signal until you've reached perfection, you'll love the HALO's secondary parameters, which allow for even further tone-sculpting. Just hold down the FDBK knob, and you'll unlock a whole new set of controls. If you're looking to clean up your sound, crank the High Pass filter, and you'll scoop out those muddy lows. Conversely, if you want a richer, warmer sound, roll off the Tone, and your delay will smooth out nicely. Throw some Saturation in there to mimic the grit and feel of a vintage tape delay unit, and you'll be taken right back to the golden era of rock. And, with the Rhythm Mode selector which delivers five delay types, including Andy's unique "Halo" sound, you'll be able to create an array of different textures to suit any performance setting.
Once you've found a sound you love, just save it to one of the HALO's presets, and you'll be able to pull it up at a moment's notice. Each preset bank gives you two delay settings, enabling users to create and store up to eight different effects. For players who need multiple delay options on the fly, simply switch between your main delay (side A) and an alternative (side B), and you'll be able to change settings mid-song. If tap tempo is a deal-breaker for you, don't worry - the Halo features a Smart Stomp System that allows users to press and hold either stomp switch to engage tap tempo mode. Players can also press and hold the alternate stomp switch for an infinite repeat/hold.
