Description
Brought from a small but long-standing instrument manufacturer to the world stage (by no less than the most famous rock band to date) merely 5 years after its introduction, the Hofner Violin Bass soon became one of the most iconic shapes and sounds in bass guitar history. The Contemporary Series is no different and fully embodies the tradition of its renowned predecessor. Its hollow body is constructed of a spruce top, flame maple back and sides, and a spruce centerblock that provides both stability, sustain, and a bit of overall tone. The body is paired with a 3-piece neck of maple and beech and boasts a beautifully bound rosewood fingerboard. An ebony bridge and trapeze tailpiece complete its construction with exceptional tonal integrity and style. The overall tone largely stems from the pair of Hofner Staple pickups in the neck and bridge, which are easily controlled by 2 volume knobs, and 3 2-way switches that turn each pickup on and off, as well as switch between the pickups themselves. Capped off with a white pearl pickgaurd, control plate, and tuning machine buttons to match, this bass will undoubtedly provide players endless amounts of both fantastic sound and style.
