This is the awesomely unusual G6138 Bo Diddley Signature model from the Gretsch Professional Collection. Gretsch continues to pay tribute to a true guitar legend who had great chops and personality to match. This G6138 is basically a 1959 style Duo Jet rebuilt with the trademark Bo Diddley square body complete with humbucking FilterTron pickups and Space-Control Bridge. The G6138 can be considered a solid body guitar because it's constructed of a solid mahogany back, but due to a heavily chambered body and a 3 ply maple top the guitar retains some of the hollow body tone Gretsch guitars are famous for. Additionally, the heavily chambered design makes the guitar very lightweight and well balanced. The Duo Jets play extremely well with perfect action and neck angle combined with an adjustable bridge. This G6138 has the classic sound of Gretsch FilterTron pickups features the Firebird Red finish and gold hardware. The FilterTrons are bright and snappy with plenty of punch and sound great when played clean or with as much gain as you can throw at them. About B-Stock:
This is a “new old stock” B-stock Gretsch guitar. The guitar is essentially new but has minor finish inconsistencies throughout the instrument, such as small surface scratching on the back of the instrument. The guitar weighs 7 lbs 3 oz and the serial number is JT05096029, which dates the guitar to 2005. Measuring 17-3/4" x 9-1/4" x 2" and made of alder and 5-ply maple, the eye catching Firebird red semi-hollow body features two FilterTron pickups, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, Gretsch "G" tailpiece, and plenty of gold hardware. The 3-piece rock maple neck has an ebonized rosewood fingerboard with "dot" pearl inlays, a 1957 style headstock, and a special Bo Diddley signature on the truss rod cover.
