Description
In her formative years, Grammy-nominated artist Margo Price described acquiring her first Gibson guitar as a dream come true. What would a budding Margo Price think if she knew then that she'd not only have one as her "Main Baby", but would also have a signature model? The Gibson Acoustic Margo Price J-45 is inspired by the many facets of Margo’s artistry; from her deep connection to the steadfast red-tailed hawk to the warmth of her cherished '60s J-45, this Artist Model tells a story like no other.
Margo Price’s music defies categorization, blending traditional country, Americana, and rock influences with raw honesty and fearless expression. Her Gibson J-45 has been a steadfast companion throughout her rise to stardom, making it only fitting that Gibson Custom would craft something that embodies her spirit, vision, and unmistakable style. The Margo Price J-45 was inspired by her mid-'60s J-45, a guitar she would come to embrace as "The one guitar I play all the time", as she states.
This beautifully crafted Acoustic features a slightly thinner mahogany body paired with a red spruce top, delivering a rich and resonant tone with enhanced projection. Traditional hand-scalloped advanced X-bracing ensures incredible dynamic response; while the mahogany neck with a Rounded profile and rosewood fretboard provides smooth, comfortable playability. Grover strap tuners with white buttons, a bone nut and saddle, and TUSQ bridge pins add to the guitar’s exceptional tuning stability and resonance.
Equipped with L.R. Baggs electronics, the Margo Price J-45 is stage and studio-ready straight out of the included hardshell case. Whether performing on a grand stage or writing songs in a quiet moment of inspiration, this guitar delivers the warmth, clarity, and depth that have made the J-45 an icon.
Visually, the Margo Price J-45 is just as striking as its sound. The distinctive double 50s-style pickguards prominently feature the red-tailed hawk, an ever-present symbol in Margo’s life. As she explains, “Red-tailed hawks have always been symbolic to me. I see them everywhere, and they always come to me in my time of need with messages of strength and perseverance.” The rich red hue of the design speaks to love, passion, and intensity; while the feather tips, dipped in white, evoke a sense of spirituality and resilience.
Some of us at Cream City Music consider ourselves fans of Margo Price, but we’re all blown away by the level of care and craftsmanship poured into this incredible guitar. Whether you’re drawn to it by its story, its connection to Margo, or its exceptional tone and playability, the Gibson Acoustic Margo Price J-45 is a true work of art, ready to inspire musicians for years to come.
