This Custom Shop 1961 SG Standard Reissue VOS is a faithful recreation of the very first SG ever to leave the Gibson factory, and it's just as fierce as the originals.
Like any authentic SG, this reissue sports a sleekly contoured 1-piece mahogany body that projects truckloads of sustain and a thick, warm resonance. This axe oozes classic Gibson style with its instantly recognizable double-cutaways and vintage-inspired cherry red nitro finish.
Gibson designed the neck on this guitar to be fast and comfortable, just like the original '61 SG. Crafted from mahogany and capped with a velvety smooth rosewood fingerboard, the neck on this SG is an absolute joy to riff on. And, thanks to its period-correct 1960 SlimTaper neck profile and precision-plek'd frets, you'll be able to shred up and down the entire fingerboard with ease.
The luthiers in Gibson's Custom Shop painstakingly designed this guitar's internal signal path to deliver a dead-on '61 SG tone. Equipped with CTS 500K Audio Taper potentiometers and Black Beauty capacitors, this SG sounds just like a golden era Gibson. Complete with a pair of Custombucker Alnico III unpotted humbuckers that perfectly replicate the vintage PAF tone, this reissue sounds almost indistinguishable from a genuine '61 Les Paul SG Standard.
Complete with a historically accurate ABR-1 bridge, a lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson single line tuners, this Gibson Custom Shop 1961 SG Standard Reissue VOS truly is the holy grail of rock guitars.
