Description
A vintage 1946 Epiphone Electrar Zephyr--one of the few remaining classic amps from a collection we purchased, months ago, from legendary guitarist G.E. Smith. Produced from the late 1930s to the early 1950s, the Zephyr features a cool mid-century look and a thick, midrange-focused tone--great for rock and blues.
For its age, this example is in nice shape, but some of the maple laminate has broken away, and there is some staining on the control panel. Electrically, the amp retains the original transformers, speaker, and most of the circuitry. However, we just serviced it with new power supply filter caps and a proper, grounded power cord. The volume pot does scratch a bit towards the top of its rotation. That aside, the amp is fully functional and sounds fantastic.
