Description

Somewhere between the metallic sounds of a modern synthesizer and the lush echoes of a reverb pedal lies the Electronic Audio Experiments Prismatic Wall Sympathetic Resonator. This one-of-a-kind stompbox emulates the resonance of sympathetic strings by feeding a filtered delay line back into itself, and the result is a dreamy, ambient effect that's perfect for creating celestial soundscapes. For the everyday guitarist, it's an incredible pedal that can help fill out your sound with depth and sustain. For the experimental musician, it's a brand-new instrument that's just waiting to be explored.

The Prismatic Wall Sympathetic Resonator offers performers full control over their sound. To start things off, the Tune knob selects the pitch of the resonator and spans an entire four-octave range, from "subby" lows to bright, buzzing upper-octave sounds. The Drive control adjusts an analog gain stage at the input of the DSP line. At lower settings, you can attenuate for hotter pickups or make the resonator less reactive. At higher settings, you get more analog saturation and more reactivity.

The Damping and Decay controls work together to shape the timbre and sustain of the string resonance. For more metallic tones, crank the damping knob. For a darker, wooden sound reminiscent of striking the body of a cello or upright bass, roll it completely off. Meanwhile, the Decay knob can be used to create plucky sounds and long echoes or even introduce analog feedback for unique drone effects.

A set of LFO Rate and Amount controls set the speed and intensity of the Prismatic Wall Sympathetic Resonator's LFO. They have a wide range and are capable of taking your signal from slow, swampy, and warbled to fast and fluttery. When combined with the Wave button, musicians can create a massive range of sound effects.

A standout feature of the Prismatic Wall is its mode selector, which determines the interval spacing of the resonator strings. In the first mode, you'll hear a single pitch combined with an overtone series for richness and depth. The second mode blends your signal with neutral thirds, a quarter-tonal interval with a mysterious detuned sound. The third mode layers stacked fifths into your signal for a cavernous sustaining sound. The final mode is chromatic, featuring 12 strings spaced a half-step apart, yielding a dense, hazy sound. To toggle all modes an octave up, you can hold down the mode switch.

For real-time control, the Prismatic Wall is equipped with an Aux button, which has two settings: morph and preset. Preset allows you to select between the three presets on the front panel, while morph mode lets you smoothly transition between two independent sets of controls. It also has momentary and latching behavior, enabling you to create pitch bends, feedback swells, on-demand modulation, and more.

The Electronic Audio Experiments Prismatic Wall Sympathetic Resonator is a must-try pedal for adventurous musicians who want to explore an entirely new dimension of their sound. Blending the rich resonance of sympathetic vibrations with the versatility and power of a modeling synthesizer, the Prismatic Wall Sympathetic Resonator has a place on any pedalboard.
