Description
The EarthQuaker Devices Chelsea is a collaboration with LCD Soundsystem, designed in partnership with James Murphy to replicate the exact bass fuzz used on the band's recordings and live performances. Named after the Chelsea guitar shop where the original pedal was purchased in 1989, this fuzz driver captures all the idiosyncrasies of the well-worn, beat-up unit that shaped the band's iconic low-end sound.
At its core, the Chelsea is a versatile low-end fuzz that offers everything from subtle grit to full-blown distortion. The Sustain knob controls the amount of gain and sustain, while the Tone knob adjusts from aggressive top-end bite to deep, low-end rumble. A Tone Bypass switch removes the tone circuit for a raw, midrange-heavy attack, letting the fuzz drive through the mix unfiltered. Whether you're aiming for the thick, cutting tones of LCD Soundsystem's biggest tracks or exploring new sonic territory, this pedal delivers with clarity and power.
Each Chelsea is handmade in Akron, Ohio, with true bypass, silent relay-based switching, and all-analog circuitry to ensure reliability in both the studio and on tour.
