Description
What’s special about this guitar: This is a gorgeous sounding circa 1927-1937 National Tricone resonator guitar with fantastic playability. This guitar features a spider bridge over three resonator cones, German Silver body and a metal-covered square neck with a slotted peg head. This resonator sounds incredible. It has a lot of warmth for a metal body guitar and off of the attack, volume and resonance you’d expect from any resonator. The square neck has fantastic string spacing making the playability very comfortable! On top of all of that, the guitar is in great overall shape for it’s age!
Condition: This resonator is in very good shape for its age! There are some scratches, blemishes and smaller dents throughout the body and neck. There is one large dent on the back of the neck toward the neck heel but this is only cosmetic. The resonator cones are in good overall shape though they have some indentations on the top from the spider bridge due to the string tension over time. They still function properly despite this. One of the wood braces in the body had cracked but was professionally glued and put back in place (see photos). The fingerboard and frets are in fantastic shape with hardly any play wear and tons of life left in them. There are two pearloid inlays at the ninth fret that fell out and were replaced with black dots. All parts are in excellent working condition.
Body: German silver body with a trapeze tailpiece and spider bridge over three resonator cones. Screened cover plate and sound holes on either shoulder. The guitar features wood bracing beneath the resonator cones for support and patent numbers engraved into the top just beneath the fingerboard.
Neck: German silver covered square neck with a bound Ebony fingerboard. Pearloid dot inlays and a 2 1/8” nut. Slotted peg head with three-on-a-strip open-gear tuners, 25” scale length.
Weight: 8lbs, 9.0oz.
