Description
Dive into the heart of 1970s rock 'n' roll with the Catalinbread Starcrash 70, a top-notch fuzz pedal from the retro Starcrash '70s Collection. This unique pedal takes inspiration from the classic Fuzz Face circuit, refining it for more power and versatility. Plus, its eye-catching chassis gives it a charming old-school aesthetic to match its dynamic '70s sound.
The Starcrash 70 is a gut-punching silicon fuzz pedal with a rich, gooey voice. Unlike the Fuzz Face, this stompbox doesn't have a fuzz knob - most players cranked it to ten for maximum grit anyways, and that's exactly what this pedal promises. Additionally, it sports a Bias control, which acts like a dying battery simulator. Keep the Bias low, and you'll channel a dominant, full-bodied fuzz. As you roll it up, the Starcrash 70 will thin out, delivering a leaner fuzz tone with tasteful harmonics.
Many silicon fuzz pedals struggle with low-end "flubbiness," so Catalinbread equipped the Starcrash 70 with a Low-Cut knob, allowing musicians to filter out low-end content from 30Hz to 500Hz. When set below noon, it cleans up subharmonic mud, and when rolled higher, it tightens up your tone for better clarity and articulation.
Because the Bias and Filter controls can decrease volume, the Starcrash 70's circuit has more output than a typical Fuzz Face circuit, so players can still hit their amp hard and drive it into a rich, sizzling overdrive.
