Nicknamed “The Father of Loud,” Jim Marshall began building amplifiers out of his music shop, in Hanwell, London, at the request of local musicians looking for an amp with more volume.
In 1965 Marshall took their product line to the next level when upstart musician Pete Townshend (The Who) demanded his sound be even louder. Marshall responded with the 100-watt Marshall amplifier, which gave rise to the iconic Marshall Stack - two 4x12 speaker cabinets stacked together for portability and the loudest sound conceivable!
From that day forward, Marshall has been building industry-leading amps for many of music’s biggest names, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Slash, Oasis, Muse and many more.
Marshall continues to breathe life into the artistry of millions of musicians, from the greatest guitarists and bassists ever to garage bands and weekend warriors around the world.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a concert or band without at least a couple iconic Marshall amps in tow. Popular models like the DSL series, Jubilee, and the vintage-style Origin series continue to pump out the sounds that have inspired and entertained generations of music lovers.
