What makes this guitar special: This is a bit of a unique Les Paul that made its way into our shop. While it is a 2015 manufacture year, the previous owner had done a few modifications to the instrument, essentially reverting all of the specifications he could to those found on the 2014 model year. The Min-eTune system was replaced with Vintage Style Gibson Deluxe tuners, the metal zero-fret nut was replaced with a custom made bone nut, and the original pickups were swapped out for ’57 Classic and ’57 Classic Plus humbuckers. All of these modifications were done in extremely good taste, and quite frankly, this guitar is an unbelievable player that possesses all of the features players have grown to love. The pickups offer the classic PAF tones that are so sought after, and the non-weight relieved body delivers the signature sustain players expect. Plus, it features a professional setup from our in-house tech, so this guitar is guaranteed to play great right out of the case.
Condition: The guitar is in excellent condition overall. It does possess some light surface scratches and a few small scuffs here and there, but is free of any dings, dents or other “love marks”. The guitar was given an overhaul in terms of features and specs, essentially converting this 2015 model back to a 2014. The Min-eTune system was removed and replaced with Vintage Style Gibson Deluxe Tuners, a bone nut replaces the adjustable metal zero-fret nut, and the pickups were replaced with 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus humbuckers. The frets are in excellent shape with little to no wear. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions perfectly.
Body: Single cutaway non-weight relieved mahogany body with a carved flame maple cap in Tobacco Sunburst finish. Single-ply cream binding. Chrome Tune-o-Matic Bridge and Stop bar tailpiece. Gold Speed Knobs.
Neck: Wider neck and fingerboard, with the traditional Gibson string spacing. Medium thickness C shape neck profile (.89” at the 1st fret, .99” at the 12th fret). 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays and black side dots. Gibson Deluxe Vintage-style tuning machines with green keystone buttons. Mother of Pearl Gibson logo headstock inlay. “Les Paul 100” logo and hologram label. 1 5/8” nut width. 24 ¾” scale length.
Electronics: ’57 Classic humbucker in the neck and ’57 Classic Plus in the bridge position. Dual volume and dual tone controls. 3 way toggle selector switch.
Weight: 8 lbs. 15.9 oz.
Playability/Sound: The neck will have a feel that is little different than what most players are traditionally accustomed to, but it is by no means uncomfortable. The access is fantastic to the highest registers, and maneuverability is easy from the nut to the heel. The 57 Classic and Classic Plus pickups provide the classic PAF tones that are so sought after, with a smooth articulation and robust, warm response.
