Description
What makes this guitar special: A model dedicated to an absolute legend in the bass playing world, this 44-64 Custom, better known as the “Duck” Dunn bass, is the perfect blend of modern and traditional, with a few changes to boot. Instead of the traditional Lakland Hybrid Split Pickup, this one features a Lindy Fralin split-coil and is wired in with an Aguilar active preamp, complete with a 2-band EQ. The pickup itself sounds fantastic to begin with, but with those additions, has an even greater expanse of tonal range, considering you can individually dial in both the highs and the lows. The neck is very similar to a J-Bass, with a slim depth and slim nut width, plus also features a satin finish that is super easy to move around. Aesthetically, it looks just as good as it sounds, with a vibrant Teal Green Metallic finish, bound fingerboard, and matching headstock, all of which are in nearly mint condition. Plus, it comes with a semi-hardshell case and a professional setup so all you have to do is tune it up when it arrives.
Condition: This bass is in excellent condition overall. It shows only minor dings here and there and light surface scratches throughout, but is still in great shape for a used bass. The frets show only very light wear and still have a full lifetime of playing left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should. This bass was photographed with flatwounds, but can be set up and restrung with rounds upon request.
Body: Double cutaway contoured ash body in Teal Green Metallic Finish. 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard. Lakland Dual Design bridge with adjustable saddles. Chrome knurled control knobs.
Neck: Slim to medium depth C shape maple neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays. Hipshot licensed Ultralite tuning machines with chrome clover keys. 1 ½” nut width. 34” scale. .78” deep at the 1st fret and .92” deep at the 12th.
Electronics: Aftermarket Active Aguilar Preamp with Lindy Fralin P-Bass pickup. 1 x volume, 1 x stacked concentric active bass and treble.
Weight: 9 lbs 10.5 oz
Playability/Sound: The neck on this bass plays great from the nut up into the cutaway and should be an easy transition for J-Bass players. The Fralin pickup is nice and full, but with the addition of the 2-band active EQ, can stretch even further into low end thump, mid-range punch, and top end clarity.
Case: Includes semi-hardshell case.
