Description

What makes this guitar special: A Custom in the best of ways, this Les Paul is truly unique in both build and configuration, yet still possesses one of the most classic looks in Rock and Roll history. This killer piece was custom ordered through our shop over half a decade ago and saw a few other modifications over the years, all of which were done in-house by our master luthier. Its body is chambered mahogany and is capped with mahogany as well, a part of the original design that came from the Gibson Custom Shop. This provides a bit more warmth in response and also helps to lighten the weight overall, keeping it to just under nine pounds. It comes loaded with a Burstbucker I, II, and III in the neck, middle, and bridge respectively, all of which sound great in their respective positions solo, but are even more expansive with the current wiring. The electronics/wiring were changed to make it more versatile, and a Freeway switch was installed to provide three additional pickup combinations, including the neck/bridge together, as well as all three on, all of which adds a good amount of tonal range. The neck is nice and chunky without being a full baseball bat, giving it a classic feel that still plays great at length. Plus, it’s still in great shape for a used guitar and the setup it’s been given allows it to play near effortlessly.

Condition: This Les Paul is in very good condition overall. It does have various light surface scratches and a few minor dings throughout, as well as slight dulling of the hardware in a few places where it was frequently played, but considering all else, it’s still in fantastic shape for a used guitar. It did have a Vibramate on it at one point, so there are very light circles where the pads rested, but you can only really tell in perfect lighting and two of which are under the bridge. The frets show only light wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Single cutaway chambered mahogany body with a mahogany top. 7-ply top binding. 5-ply back binding. 4-ply raised black pickguard. Gold Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece. Black top hat control knobs with indicators.

Neck: Medium depth C shape mahogany neck and bound ebony fingerboard with block inlays. 5-ply bound headstock. Gold Grover tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.75” scale. Red side dots.

Electronics: Burstbucker I in the neck, Burstbucker II in the middle and Burstbucker III in the bridge. 3 x volume, 1 x push/pull master tone control. 6-way Freeway pickup selector. Original electronics are included in the case.

Weight: 8 lbs 1.8 oz

Playability/Sound: The neck on this Les Paul has a nice rounded profile and a bit more depth than modern slims, making it perfect for players who like a full in-hand feel without having a full on baseball bat. The pickups sound monstrous in just about every position and with the Freeway switch, provide a wider range of tones than standard wiring, including the bridge and neck combo as well as all three on.

Case: Includes original hardshell case and COA.
