A 2007 Ibanez Steve Vai JEM 20th Anniversary Limited Edition electric guitar made in Japan. Fashioned of hand-crafted premium grade clear acrylic with a 3-D interior design that can actually be illuminated by internal green LEDs. Only 500 were made available worldwide with just 200 being available in the United States.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition overall - very clean!
Neck: 5pc JEM Prestige maple neck with 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard is scalloped from the 21st to the 24th fret. Mother of pearl & abalone vine inlay. 6105 frets are in great shape with no wear. Gotoh tuners with multi-color acrylic buttons in perfect working condition. Chrome hardware; locking nut.
Body: The Japanese handcrafted premium acrylic body with 3-dimensional JEM multicolor design is striking enough in the daylight, but the body can be illuminated by 8 internal green LEDs behind the bridge pickup. The lights are activated by a push/pull pot on the tone control. The JEM 20TH’s beautiful acrylic body is made by a Japanese company that fabricates the clear tank walls for the more prestigious aquariums in the world. The actual process is a closely guarded trade secret. Each body is gone over by hand extensively by a highly skilled veteran of acrylic arts. Edge Pro tremolo bridge, licensed under Floyd Rose Patents completes the package.
Pickups: Pickups are made in the U.S.A. TransJems, designed and manufactured by DiMarzio exclusively for the JEM 20TH guitar to provide optimum performance with its dense acrylic body. DiMarzio designed the TransJem pickups to have greater transient response than standard humbuckers, and the neck and bridge pickups each have individual coils tuned to different frequencies. This combination produces a sound that is both powerful and open. The middle pickup design is based on the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2. This design works well with the dense TransJem body, and balances very well in split mode with the neck and bridge pickups. All five TransJem switch positions are hum canceling.
Case: Original deluxe hardshell case is included along with the instruction manual, original hang tags, a signed photo of Steve Vai & a fabulous book about the history of Ibanez!
