Description
What makes this guitar special? In terms of limited production, distinct looks, and cleverness of design from a tenured manufacturer, you can’t do much better than this Reverse Flying V. This guitar comes from the first run Gibson did as a part of the Guitar of the Week (Week 29) in 2007 and only 400 were made. After their initial success, Gibson followed with another limited run in 2008, with a few more color options and slight appointment changes as well. This one is still in fantastic shape for being nearly 10 years old and includes a majority of the original paperwork as well as the original hardshell case. It plays much easier than a traditional V, as the shape rests much more naturally while being played sitting down. If that’s not enough, the whole guitar weighs in under six and a half pounds, so it plays just as easily standing. And of course, loaded with a pair of ’57 Classics, it sounds good to boot and plays just as well since it comes with a professional in-house setup.
Condition: This guitar is in excellent condition overall. It shows only a few minor dings and light surface scratches, but is otherwise in fantastic shape for a used guitar that’s nearly 10 years old already. It still has the original pickguard plastic on it as well. The frets show only light wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions perfectly.
Body: Reverse Flying V shape mahogany body in Natural finish. 3-ply white pickguard. Amber top hat knob. Gold Tune-o-matic bridge and strings-through V tailpiece. Gold hardware.
Neck: Medium depth C shape mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. .82” at the 1st fret, .88” at the 12th. Vintage-style gold Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with keystone keys. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.75” scale.
Electronics: Gold ’57 Classic humbuckers in the neck and bridge. 1 x volume control. 3-way pickup selector.
Weight: 6 lbs 7.3 oz
Playability/Sound: The neck is very easy to move around and has a common C shape that should be familiar and comfortable to a wide variety of players. The ’57 Classics sound great in both positions with a big and warm neck response, a crisp bridge with perfect bite, and a perfect blend of the two in the middle.
Case: Includes original hardshell case.
