What makes this guitar special: The Billy Bo is a uniquely designed, all around rock n roll guitar first created by the late, great Bo Diddley back in 1959. Bo's guitar was later donated as a gift to ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons who used it on some recordings. Since Gibbons did not want to risk subjecting the rare guitar to touring and live performances, he approached Gretsch with the idea of reproducing the Jupiter Thunderbird. The end result was the G6199 "Billy-Bo" Jupiter Thunderbird which Gretsch launched back in 2005 & is still going strong today! Professionally set up by us with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds superb!
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition overall with surface scratches.
Neck: V-shaped mahogany neck with cream binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with Neo-Classic "Thumbnail" inlays. Frets are in great shape with no wear. Bound headstock with Billy Bo signature on the back. Grover Sta-Tite tuners are in perfect working condition. 1.6875" nut width; 24.6" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in perfect working condition.
Body: Chambered mahogany body finished in black with laminated maple top finished in red & 3-ply binding. G-Cutout tailpiece & Adjusto-Matic bridge with pinned rosewood base. Single-ply black plexi pickguard. Guitar weighs 7 lbs.
Pickups: TV Jones PowerTron humbuckers. Bridge - 8.15K ohms; Neck - 4.86K ohms. Master volume & tone controls with volume controls for each pickup; G-Arrow knobs; 3-way toggle switch. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included along with Certificate of Authenticity & Gretsch paperwork.
