Description
What makes this guitar special: This is a fantastic guitar on all accounts in terms of look, sound, and playability. Visually, the quilted maple top looks absolutely fantastic not only as far as figuring, but also under the Antique Amber finish, outlined by scraped natural binding and complemented by gold hardware. The pickups sound great inherently in their respective positions, but with the addition of the three middle positions, which provide combinations of individual coils run in series or parallel, are able to range into single-coil territory with ease, providing a wide range of tones from front to back. Plus, for a used guitar that’s 10 years old, it’s in fantastic shape and plays beautifully from head to toe.
Condition: This guitar is in excellent condition overall. It does possess a few small dings and dents and light surface scratches, but largely remains very clean, especially for a 10-year-old guitar. The frets show only very light wear and still have a full lifetime of playing left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.
Body: Contoured mahogany body with a quilted maple top in Antique finish. Scraped natural top binding. Gold Tune-o-matic bridge w/ string through body. Gold knurled dome controls.
Neck: Thin C shape maple and walnut neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard material with abalone Vine of Life inlays. 24 jumbo frets. Satin finish gold Grover tuning machines. 1.653” nut. 25.5” scale.
Electronics: Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2N humbucker in the neck and JB SH-4B humbucker in the bridge. 1 x volume, 1 x tone control. 5-way pickup selector (bridge, back coils in parallel, front coils in series, front coils in parallel, neck).
Weight: 7 lbs 14.9 oz
Playability/Sound: The neck is a comfortable and familiar C shape most players should have no issue adapting to. The pickups themselves have a good amount of body, but with a bit more mid-range than most. This becomes readily apparent in the three middle positions of the 5-way switch, more specifically in the 2nd and 4th positions which provide parallel configurations of pairs of coils from each pickup. These provide great single-coil-esque tones that add great dynamic to the standard humbucker tones.
Case: Includes semi-hardshell case.
