Description
The Buzzard was the brainchild of the late bass legend John Entwistle and Warwick founder Hans Peter Wilfer. The two originally collaborated on this bass in 1985 when John asked for help to create a bass based on his unique ideas of how it should look and play. This specific instrument was made for John Entwistle to have as a spare for touring, but he died before it could be delivered.
The untamed body shape and bolt-on neck design form a distinctive bass guitar that sounds as wild as its guise. It also features a killer pickup configuration. Two pairs of active MEC split-coil pickups provide ample tonal ranges and nearly infinite possibilities. Controlled by 2-band active MEC electronics, this bass is sure to play like butter in the hands of any player. It can handle the stresses of deep, thunderous growls yet can pick up the most gentle of nuances and deliver bright, crisp highs. Warwick's Buzzard is a fitting tribute to a truly inspirational bassist that Hans Peter and all of us will miss.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition overall - very clean with only a few minor nicks & dings; mild surface scratches.
Neck: Ovangkol neck with Wenge fingerboard. 24 brass frets in great shape with no wear. The bass side of the neck has a plastic strip running the entire length of the fingerboard & is attached to a power pack on the back of the headstock. A small toggle switch illuminates the neck with red dot lights! Gold Warwick tuners in perfect working condition. 1 1/2" brass nut; 34" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Solid Zebrano (zebrawood). Warwick 2-piece bridge with adjustable saddles. The gold hardware has tarnished somewhat. Bass weighs 11.5 lbs.
Pickups: Active MEC split-coil pickups with Active MEC 2-band EQ; volume & tone controls.
Playability / Sound: Nice, low action - plays like a brand new bass. Rich, dynamic tone with incredible sustain & resonance.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included. Also included with the bass is its original warranty card & identification sheet along with the owner's manual.
