Description

What makes this guitar special: A full-size 17” archtop, one of very few built in Japan by master builder Hidesato Shiino. Built in the spirit of the legendary archtops of John D’Angelico, the NYL-2 is built from premium select woods, and is masterfully appointed from head-to-toe. The ebony fingerboard is smooth and comfortable, and features a cascading split block inlay pattern, which balances beautifully against the natural grain of the rest of the instrument. The back & sides are composed of brilliant flame maple, while the top is hand-carved spruce, giving this piece a wonderfully resonant acoustic sound to match its stellar electric tone. To top it off, this piece is in immaculate condition-with virtually no wear to speak of.

Cosmetic condition: Excellent condition. A handful of light surface scratches and marks from handling are present, along with some visible pickwear on the guard and nominal tarnishing on the gold hardware.

Body: Flame maple back & sides with carved solid spruce top in natural finish. Dual bound f-holes. 7-ply binding. Bound tortoise pickguard with mounted volume & tone controls. Compensated ebony bridge with floating ebony base & dual pearl inlays. Gold stairstep D’Angelico tailpiece.

Weight: 6 lb, 13.4 oz

Neck: C-shaped two piece maple neck with black side dots and cascading split block pearl inlays. Bound ebony fingerboard is in marvelous shape and frets show no wear. Bound headstock with black overlay, pearl D’Angelico logo and “New Yorker” skyline logo. Skyscraper truss rod cover. 1 11/16” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. The back of the headstock sports a rosewood overlay with stinger, and a large diamond inlay. Gold Grover Imperial tuners work perfectly. Neck is straight and truss rod functions as it should.

Electronics: Floating neck humbucker with pickguard mounted adjustable volume & tone.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
