Description
Condition: There are scratches, nicks, dings, dents and some small chips throughout the bass. There are heavy pick scratches on the top and around the controls. Most noticeable is a large chip next to the neck volume control that appears to have been “covered” with a black paint or marker (see photos). Most of the noticeable scratches, dings and dents are on the back. There is some light buckle rash. It appears as if a previous owner attempted to paint the tailpiece gloss black evident by excess paint on the matte black tailpiece. This is only visible upon close-up inspection. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. When we acquired this bass, a shim had been glued into the neck pocket (see photos). The bass plays great as it currently is so we have left the shim in. The neck is very straight and the truss rod functions fine. The bass is currently equipped with Bartolini pickups and a Bartolini preamp system. There has been some light touch-up solder work done, however all electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid contoured double-cutaway alder body with quilt maple top in trans red finish. The figuring throughout the top is absolutely stunning. Top-load tailpiece/bridge with six individual saddles, knurled control knobs and a back cover plate.
Neck: Bolt-on 24-fret carbon fiber KLD neck with Phenolic Composite fingerboard, white dot fret markers, bi-directional relief adjusting rod and a 2” nut. Sealed Modulus tuners, 35” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Bartolini pickups in the neck and bridge with an active Bartolini NTMP-9185 preamp powered by two 9-volt batteries. Dual volume controls, mid control and stacked concentric controls for bass and treble.
Weight: Just over 10 lbs.
Playability/Sound: This is an exceptional sounding bass. The Bartolini pickups and preamp deliver amazing sounds in any setting. Virtually any desired tone is possible based on where the controls are set. The preamp delivers a very punchy bright sound and an extremely full and deep low end. The carbon fiber neck construction offers remarkably comfortable playability up and down the neck.
