Description

What makes this guitar special:  Danny Ferrington has been custom building guitars since the late '70s.  His unique pieces are highly sought-after, with a clientele list that includes George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Elvis Costello, Kurt Cobain & countless others.  This gorgeous baritone acoustic is another of his remarkable creations, offering a full, rich tone & dynamic response.  It was hand-built by Danny for a customer back in 1998 & we recently acquired the guitar from the original owner.  I spoke with Danny personally about the guitar & he said for him to make another one today would cost about $12,000, so this one is a real steal at less than half that price!  It has been professionally set up, so it plays & sounds absolutely amazing.  A true American beauty & a definite must-have for any serious collector!

Cosmetic Condition:  Excellent condition & well-cared for.  There are a few minor nicks & dings along with mild surface scratches.  The tortoise binding has shrunk a little bit in the body's waist, but it's not too bad & could be repaired if desired.  The treble-side of the bridge is pulling away from the top just ever so slightly; not even enough to slide a single piece of paper under it.  It's not too bad actually & does not affect playability or sound quality.  Overall the guitar has a great look to it & the construction is very solid.

Neck:  Medium-profile mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard & pearloid dot inlays.  Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear.  Mother of pearl headstock inlays on both the front & back.  Chrome Gotoh tuners are in perfect working condition.  1 3/4" nut width; 29 3/4" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.

Body:  Single-cutaway with tortoise-bound top & back.  Solid spruce top with ebony bridge; 3-ply tortoise & abalone rosette.  Underneath the top is a hand-written note from Danny documenting the guitar along with the date of manufacture.  Solid rosewood back & sides.  No pickguard or pickup.  17 1/4" lower bout width; 12" upper bout width; 4 1/2" body depth.  Guitar weighs 5 lbs .5 oz.

Case:  Original hardshell case included.
