Description
What’s special about this guitar: This is a rare Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Electric Guitar. These guitars are particularly hard to come by especially in translucent walnut flame! This is an exceptionally well-made guitar with some very unique features including a 17” bout, bound body, arm rest, f-holes and pickguard and a thin 1.75” body with Venetian cutaway. This model features a center block made from balsa and mahogany which gives it great response and allows the overall weight to remain light. The top, back and sides are a gorgeous flame maple and the neck is extremely comfortable with a nicely rounded profile.
Condition: Very good overall shape. There are various surface scratches, very small nicks and dings throughout the body and some buckle rash on the back. Fingerboard and frets have only light play wear with some moderate play wear towards the lower registers. The neck is nice and straight with super comfortable action and the truss rod functions perfectly.
Body: Double-bound body with curly flame maple top, back and sides in translucent walnut finish. 17” lower bout and 1.75” body depth. Bigbsy tailpiece with a rosewood-based Tune-O-Matic bridge. Speed control knobs, dual bound f-holes, bound tortoise arm rest and a bound tortoise pickguard.
Neck: Very nicely rounded maple neck with an Ebony fingerboard. Pearloid thumbnail inlays and a 1 ¾” nut. Sealed Gibson tuners, 25.5” scale length.
