Description

What makes this guitar special: Both classic and unique from head to toe, this modified Les Paul Studio also has some serious character. The most noticeable aspect is the refinishing that left it with a killer Black Sparkle finish you won’t find many other places. The pickups are a bit of a mystery as well, yet add quite a bit of extra character with their response. Compared to a modern studio, the neck is considerably warmer in tone with a more rounded midrange that possesses a little extra vintage vibe. The bridge has a slightly sweeter midrange, the upper end of which has a good amount of chime, and the pair not only provide a good range of tone, but some additional intrigue as well. Other than those aspects, it is relatively straight forward and still looks, sounds, and plays great for a guitar that’s closing in on 25-years-old.

Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It does show various nicks, dings, dents, scratches, chips, along with other normal wear and tear, but is still in great shape, especially for a guitar that’s nearly 25 years old. The frets show only light wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Single cutaway mahogany body with a carved maple top, refinished in Black Sparkle. 3-ply raised black pickguard. Black top hat control knobs. Chrome Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece.

Neck: Medium depth C shape mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard with trapezoid inlays. Unoriginal “Standard” truss rod cover. Vintage-style deluxe tuning machines with green tulip keys. 1 11/16” nut width. 24 ¾” scale. .84” deep at the 1st fret. .99” deep at the 12th.

Electronics: Chrome humbuckers with “GH-6C” and “Made in Japan” on the bottom. 2 x volume, 2 x tone controls. 3-way pickup selector.

Weight: 9 lbs 14.4 oz

Playability/Sound: The neck shape and size should be familiar to a wide variety of players with its accessible C shape. The pickups have a bit of vintage vibe to them, not quite having the normal modern response and instead possessing a bit more warmth and a more rounded mid-range in the neck and a some extra upper-mid chime in the bridge.

Case: Includes gigbag.
