Description
Condition: This guitar is in good shape for its age! There are some light scratches throughout the top, back, sides and neck but they are all very light. There is some very light hazing in the lacquer on the lower treble side bout but this is only visible under direct lighting. There are some pick scratches on the pickguard and body but the protective plastic wrapping is still intact on the pickguard. There is a hand-written note under the pickguard reading “changed pickup”. There has been some touch-up solder work done but all of the pickups are G&L MFD single coils so they may have been swapped out in the past, then replaced. One pot dates to 1990, the other two date to 1991. The pickguard and back cover plate don’t match so one may be unoriginal. There are a few extra screw holes on the bottom of the neck but this is common for G&L guitars. This is an earlier model S-500 and features Leo Fender’s signature on the upper bass side horn. Fingerboard and frets have very light play wear and plenty of life left in them. The neck has a bit of a warp around the 12th fret that is most prominent on the bass side. Even with this warp, the neck is still very comfortable and the truss rod functions fine. The neck tilt adjustment functions fine also. The neck and/or frets may require more work in the future. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid contoured ash body in sunburst finish. G&L Dual-Fulcrum vibrato bridge with six individual saddles, knurled control knobs, 5-way selector switch, vibrato arm, a 3-ply white pickguard and black metal back cover plate. This is an earlier model S-500 and features Leo Fender’s signature on the upper bass side horn!

Pickups/Electronics: G&L MFD single-coil pickups in the neck, middle and bridge with master volume control, treble and bass controls and a 2-way mini toggle switch for engaging the neck and bridge pickups together, or all three. The 5-way switch has to be set to middle and bridge or neck and bridge for the mini toggle to select all three pickups at once.

Middle: 4.73K Ohms.
Bridge: 4.77K Ohms.

Playability/Sound: This is a great sounding guitar with tons of versatility. The mini toggle switch allows more tonal options all of which sound exceptional thanks to the G&L MFD pickups. The slim neck is extremely comfortable and ideal for players who prefer a slender profile neck.
