Description
What makes this guitar special: 100% original & in fabulous shape for being nearly 30 years old. '88 was the first year Fender introduced the American Standard Tele & the neck date on this beauty is from June 24 of that year. These post-CBS models really demonstrate how much better the overall fit & finish was compared to the early 80's Fenders. The neck/body connection is tight & the bridge saddles are of much higher quality. And the sound is unmistakable Telecaster!
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape overall, but there are signs of use - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some mild fingerboard wear. There are a couple of minor stress cracks in the surface of the finish on either side of the neck pocket. These are purely cosmetic affect neither the playability nor sound quality of the guitar.
Neck: C-shape maple neck with skunk stripe & black side-dots. Maple fingerboard with black dot inlays. Frets show some light wear, but are in very good condition overall & have plenty of life in them. Cast/sealed Fender tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition. Pencil date on the end of the neck reads 6-24-88.
Body: Solid alder body in Olympic White finish. The finish has aged beautifully & mellowed into a nice cream color. String-thru bridge with American Standard bridge/saddles. 3-ply white pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 6.3 oz.
Pickups: American Standard Tele single coils. Bridge - 7.15K ohms; Neck - 7.24K ohms. Master volume & tone controls with knurled knobs; 3-way selector switch. Pots date to '88 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
