Description
A rare 1987 Marshall 25/50 Jubilee Bass Series IBS 300-watt bass stack. Manufactured from 1985 to 1993, very few IBS amps made it to North America, and they are very hard to come by. The IBS series amps feature MOSFET-driven power sections, which combine tube-like tone with solid-state reliability. The 3530 head does not sound like a modern hyper-clean solid state bass amp. It is at home when it is turned up loud and the power section is clipping. Punk and garage bassists that play with a pick will LOVE this amp. The control set is simple but highly effective--with basic gain/master controls plus very musicical-sounding 7-band eq.
With the head you get two hard-to-find original 1987 Silver Jubilee Model 1515 1x15 speaker cabinets. These cabs sport the original cast-frame 15" Celestion Sidewinder drivers and handle 250 watts apiece. They are bottom vent-ported and feature birch-ply construction for a solid low end, free of rattles. At only 70 lbs apiece and a pretty compact size, these cabs will give you full-stack sound without having to hire a road crew.
All in all, this rare Marshall bass stack has a unique, tube-like sound that lends well to louder rock styles. It is also quite the conversation piece, as it's unlikey that you'll ever run into someone else that has one. This amp has been cleaned and serviced. It is fully functional and sounds fantastic.
