Description
What makes this guitar special? This vintage SG is chock-full of late ‘70s mojo and it shows. Appropriately worn but not beat up, this SG has genuine character in both tone and aesthetic. The slim neck feels fantastic nut to cutaway and the humbuckers definitely give you more than enough drive and body. The replaced tuning machines provide excellent stability, making this even more of a great player’s piece at an even better price. Don’t miss your chance to soak up this great playing late ‘70s SG.
Condition: This SG is in good condition overall. It does have various nicks, dings, and scratches throughout the body as well as some pitting on the bridge, so it has been played but definitely not abused. For a guitar approaching 40 years old, it still plays great. The neck is straight and the truss rod works as it should. The frets do show moderate wear but definitely still have life left in them.
Body: Contoured double-cutaway mahogany body in Walnut finish. Block bridge with adjustable saddles and stop bar tailpiece. 4-ply black pickguard. Black trim rings, toggle plate, and speed knobs. Body dates to ’78.
Neck: Slim profile mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard and block inlays. Replaced Grover tuning machines. 1-9/16” nut width.
Electronics: Gibson Humbuckers in the neck and bridge. 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume, 2 tone controls. The pots date to ’77.
Neck: 5.16k Ohms
Bridge: 7.50k Ohms
Weight: 7 lbs 2.7 oz
Playability/Sound: The slim neck on this SG feels fantastic and with years of wear, feels even more natural in-hand. Our techs have given it a good setup so it has great playability, even at its age. The pickups are slightly more mild output than other models at 5.16k and 7.5k (neck and bridge respectively), but still have more than enough oomph to give you some fat, full drive without much effort.
Case: Original Gibson hardshell case included.
