Description: 1970s Vintage MCI Model M340 Guitorgan Electric Guitar Organ Synthesizer
Condition: Fair – good overall. This is a very rare, one-of-a-kind guitar designed to function as a regular guitar and an organ complete with multiple organ-style settings located on the guitar. It even includes the original organ volume pedal! There was a headstock crack that has been professionally repaired by our master luthier. It is holding together perfectly (see photos). The truss rod is in place but is not turning and therefore not functioning properly. This has caused a bow in the neck but the guitar is still playable. The electronics are in good working condition. There is a switch and knob mounted to the pickguard that is not currently functioning, otherwise all electronics are in perfect working condition. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear and tons of life left in them.
Body: Double-bound dual cutaway hollow body with maple top, back and sides in sunburst finish. The inside is routed for the electronics with a huge PCB board with access on the back (see photos). Trapeze tailpiece, rosewood bridge with nickel saddle, skirted control knobs with silver inserts, dual “F” holes and a 4-ply black pickguard. Located on the upper treble side cutaway are multiple 2 and 3-way switches with multiple settings for sound and effects (see photos).
Neck: Bolt-on maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays, electronic frets with “candy cane” wiring “see photos) and a 1 10/16” nut. There is a sustain button located on the bass side of the nut beneath the neck. Closed-gear nickel tuners, 25” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Single-coil pickups in the neck and bridge with dual volume and tone controls and a 3-way selector switch. 11 switches allow the player to dial in various organ sounds.
Neck: 7.96K Ohms.
Bridge: 8.19K Ohms.

Playability/Sound: This is one of the most unique synthesizer guitars we have ever had in the shop. The organ portion of the instrument is a 6-note polyphonic circuit which allows full guitar chords to be played. The guitar section always remains playable but organ notes can be played alone or simultaneously with the guitar. The frets are divided into six segments creating independent contact switches for each string. This allows several noted to be played by making contact with the string against the fret. The expression pedal is then used to bring in the organ sounds so the player can have only the guitar signal, only the organ signal or both at the same time. As stated above the truss rod is not functioning properly but all notes can be played on the neck without any fretting out or significant buzzing.
