Description: 1961 Vintage German Made Gustave August Ficker Stradivarius Model Violin No. 176 Rare Model!
Condition: Very good condition overall! There is a crack down the center seam with some separation that will require repair (see photos). The violin is still playable even with this crack. There is no other structural damage or issues with this instrument. Various light surface scratches and a few tiny dings throughout the entire finish. This violin is really in exceptional shape for its age! Neck and fingerboard are in great shape with very light play wear, All parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid arched spruce top, solid flame maple sides and solid arched flame maple back in natural finish. Ebony tailpiece and chin rest, maple bridge saddle made by WM Lewis & Son and Dual “F” holes. The label on the inside of the violin reads: “Gustave August Ficker No. 176 Anno 1961 Stradivarius Model the Sarasate made in Germany exclusively for William Lewis and Son Chicago, Illinois”. Another sticker on the inside reads the serial number: 14460 and “GAF” in prinsted on the inside above the makers label.
Neck: Round flame maple neck with Ebony fingerboard and a 7/8” Ebony nut. Scroll headstock features four individual Ebony tuning pegs. 12 ¾” scale length.
Playability/Sound: This violin has a gorgeous, bright tone with plenty of volume and resonance. The top crack is easily repairable with a qualified violin luthier and would five this instrument even more resonance. This is a rare violin with phenomenal craftsmanship and excellent playability.
Case: Includes original hardshell case. The original bow is included in the case but will need to be re-haired.
