Description
Condition: Various surface scratches, nicks, dings, dents and weather checking give this mandolin an authentic vintage look and vibe! There are some heavier dings and pick scratches on the top and some deeper dents around the sides of the bridge. The headstock also shows some weather checking and nicks/chips around the edge. The top center seam was re-glued evident by some excess glue. There is a very slight amount of “sinking” on the top just beneath the pickup but the mandolin is structurally sound and it is not affecting playability. The bridge plate shows two strips of reinforcing wood, one of which overlaps the other. This appears to be original (see photos). There is an extra screw hole on the treble side of the pickup mount (see photos). There is some buckle rash on the back but nothing too severe (see photos). The neck is very straight and the truss rod functions fine. All parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: A-Style double bound body with arched spruce top, flame maple sides and arched maple back in sunburst finish. There is some gorgeous, subtle flame figuring throughout the back. Nickel tailpiece and cover, height-adjustable rosewood bridge, dual “F’ holes, skirted control knobs and a 5-ply black pickguard.
Neck: Soft “V’ shaped mahogany neck with bound rich rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays and a 1 3/16” nut. 4-on-a-strip Kluson Deluxe Single Stripe nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons, 13 ¾” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Dog Ear P-90 single-coil pickup with master volume and tone controls.
Pickup: 8.32K Ohms.
Weight: 2lbs, 9.4oz.
Playability/Sound: This is a gorgeous sounding mandolin. Acoustically the tone is very warm with an even response from the lows, mids and highs. The P-90 pickup does a great job of recreating the natural sound of the instrument.
Case: Includes unoriginal newer model hardshell case.
