Description
What makes this guitar special: These fun little 3/4 size archtops were only made for a short period of time, between 1950 & '56. This one is nearly all original (later period Gibson tuners) & is a marvelous player with a warm, rich, woody tone. The perfect 'couch guitar' - super light weight & an absolute dream to play, guaranteed to provide hours of enjoyment. Professionally inspected & set up by our own master luthier, so it's ready to go straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for being over 60-years old, showing signs of typical play wear over the years - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; mild surface scratches & light weather checking. There's some very minor superficial cracking near the input jack, but nothing of any real significance. Overall the guitar has an exquisite look to it with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Chunky mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. The original Kluson Deluxe tuners were replaced quite some time ago with Gibson Deluxe tuners which are a perfect match, so no extra screw holes were drilled. 1 9/16" nut width; 23" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Double-bound, hollow maple body with Florentine cutaway & dual F-holes. Nickel trapeze tailpiece with floating rosewood bridge. Tortoise pickguard shows some pick wear, but no cracks. 13" lower bout width; 3 1/4" depth. Guitar weighs 4lbs.
Pickup: 'Dog ear' P-90 single coil with black cover - 7.43K ohms. Master volume & tone controls with gold 'top hat' knobs. All electronics are original & in perfect working condition.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
