Description: 1952 Vintage Epiphone Zenith Archtop Acoustic Guitar
Condition: Good condition overall. There are two repaired cracks in the top; one of the upper bass side bout and one on the lower bass side bout. There is one small area of shrunken binding in the top bass side waist (see photos). There are a total of sixe visible but very small screw holes on the top, side of the fingerboard and the side, most of which were from a pickguard (see photos). The letters “U.S.N” have been printed on the back just beneath the neck heel (see photos). Various surface scratches, nicks, dings, dents, a few deeper scratches and some weather checking. Fingerboard and frets have light play wear and tone of life left in them. Tuners though vintage, are unoriginal.
Body: Double bound body with solid arched spruce top and flame maple sides and arched back in natural finish. Trapeze tailpiece, Rosewood bridge with dual “F” holes.
Neck: Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays and a 1 11/16” nut. Kluson Deluxe Singlke Stripe tuners, 25 ¾” scale length.
Playability/Sound: This is a great sounding archtop with excellent playability. The maple back and sides with spruce top are a great combination for warmth, attack and overall brightness. The neck is exceptionally comfortable and is suitable for any playing style.
Case: Includes vintage hardshell case.
