Say Hi To Joan!
http://www.warpdrivemusic.com/images/JohnS3/JoanJettTatoo.jpg
We spotted this tattoo at the Greg Koch (Rhymes with chalk) clinic here on Sat. Feb 28th. Surprisingly, it was not on the arm of our shipping guru Beezer, who is a fan of Joan's, has some serious ink on his own arrms and is even pictured just below chatting with Joan her own bad self.

My Morning Jacket Says Hi!

http://www.warpdrivemusic.com/images/johnm/My_morning_jacket_02.jpg

Left to right we have Carl Broemer, Jim James and Tom Blankenship from My Morning Jacket. The fellows were taking a little time out before their show at the Pabst Theatre to play some of our very nice vintage Gretsch guitars. In fact, they left with a pretty rare Gretsch Super Axe. My Morning Jacket is bringing some real grit and real rock'n'roll to popular music. They were featured on Saturday Night Live not long ago and, despite a whole lot of attention and notoriety, they seem to be some of the friendlier and more cheerful musicians you will come across. Be sure to check them out on their current Evil Urges tour.

Beezer Meets Joan!

http://www.warpdrivemusic.com/images/johns/Beez-and-Joan.jpg

Hey, hey! What a day for Beezer Hill, our shipping guru. On August 30th, he got backstage (he's very persistent!) to meet Joan Jett, who was in town playing Miller Park in honor of Harley's 105th Anniversary. Beezer's a fan, but there's more to the story than just a young lad with stars in his eyes... he was also on a goodwill mission. He got two Gibson Joan Jett Melody Maker guitars signed by her for Cream City Music. One of these guitars was donated to Guitars For Vets, a great non-profit that Cream City supports The second guitar is still available here for sale. Joan is a favorite of the troops and has been over to Afghanistan and Iraq to play for them so many times they made her an honorary 20-star general! We love rock'nroll!

Thank you Joan!

GRETSCH DAY

On Saturday, August 2 - 2008, Cream City Music hosted a great, day-long event, Gretsch Day. Fred Gretsch, the congenial president of Gretsch Guitars, was on hand signing autographs and generally making people smile.

A Visit From A Cowboy!

Pictured below: Cowboy entertainer Vince Bruce is known as The Master Of The Whips and Ropes. Here he is giving a little clinic on how to twirl. Don't try this at home! he was on hand last year when Cream City Music and Jam For Sam raised money for Jim Kishline, a great bass player and vocalist who was seriusly injured in a car accident. We are gald to report that Jim has made an amazing recovery and is back at it, playing gigs and enjoying life.

Joe Klass (left) and Sam Radatz (right) of the group Voice Of Veterans stopped by the store to check out some of our guitars.. Shown here admiring the Guitars For Vets Benford custom guitar that is being raffled off at the store. (Stop down and enter, you might win!) They are taking their music to veterans in the Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin area and trying to do what they can for the men and women who have given so much to our country. Their CD, Welcome Home, is available at their website: www.voicesofveterans.us

Recently, at Cream City Music in Brookfield, WI...we had a visit from blues guitarist Tallan "The T-Man" Latz. Tallan is all of eight years old and, at an age where most kids are trading Pokemon cards, he's riffing like a pro and fast becoming a solid little blues player! There are traces of Albert King and Jimi Hendrix in his playing. He's played with Greg Koch (and Greg's son) and we think great things can be expected of this young man. Here's a short vid of him flexing his music muscle atop a very nice Mesa Boogie Maverick Combo amp doin' Voodoo Chile!

Dick Elliot has played with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley. Just to name a few!

We've known Dick Elliot since the early 90's when he and his brother Don were regulars at Crown Music... he's been a friend and customer every since. He also was a signature artist for Eko Guitars back in the sixties, when a sketch of his image appeared on the Eko String packaging !

Ben and Brian stopped by the Gibson booth during NAMM to discuss 2008 product. They were fortunate enough to share the presence of Slash during our appointment.

Herman’s Hermits At Cream City

The first thing we noticed were the Manchester accents…. OK, British accents, we’re not that good. When we inquired a little further, we found that we were host to one of the bigger British invasion bands, Herman’s Hermits. A string of top ten hits in the sixties will do wonders for your touring schedule, after a few dates in the area, they will be finding themselves down under for a tour shortly. They not only enjoyed the store, but Eddy purchased a Les Paul that he plans to use immediately. As evidenced by the photo, four more cheerful lads would be hard to find! Left to right they are; drummer Barry Whitwam, keyboardist Kevan Lingard, bassist Geoff Foot and guitarist Eddy Carter.
