Cream City Music Consignment Program

We offer a comprehensive and flexible consignment program for any of your used gear. Of course we specialize in vintage and rare guitars and amps but we accept consignments of all types. Our minimum resell value for consignments is $500. Consigning is a great way to get more money for your valuable gear. Cream City Music has a great reputation locally and online. By offering your consignment to the worldwide buying market we can insure that we’ll get top dollar for your gear and sell it quickly.

Cream City Music has a professional luthier with over 25 years of experience. If extensive repair or restoration will help you get the most out of your consignment, we can offer expert service for such work, done at a fair price. We can offer this service to you at no charge up front. Fees for repair and restoration can be deducted from the payout rather then paid up front.

We have a variable scale for the percentage that we retain as the seller. Included in this percentage is instrument setup, cleaning, minor repair labor, photography, and internet listing fees, eBay closing fees, PayPal payment fees from domestic and overseas bidders and shipping & handling.

The consignment percentage we retain for each sale is as follows:

Less  then   $999  - 30%

$1000  to  $2499  - 25%

$2500  to  $9999  - 20%

$1000 to $49,999 - 15%

More then $50,000 - 10%

FAQ:

Q: How long will it take to get a payout for my consignment?

A: Typically we are able to sell any item within 30 days, often times sooner! For all our sales, we offer a 7 day money back return policy; therefore we can only offer a consignee payment 8 days after the sale of the consignment.

Q: I live no where near Cream City Music, can you still consign my guitar?

A: Absolutely, All you’ll need to do is get the guitar shipped to us. When the item arrives it will be fully appraised and a contract will be sent to you by fax, email, or post, whichever you prefer. For high value consignments we can offer prepaid shipping and even mail you all the packaging materials you'll need to safely package your valuable instrument. We  can even mail you an empty box with bubble wrap and tape included! All you’ll need to do is package your guitar up and bring it to a UPS drop off location.

Q: I  have several consignments, is the percentage that you the (seller) retains based on the grand total, or for each item?

A: Our percentage is based on each individual item you have consigned with us, not the sum of multiple items.

Q: My guitar or Amp needs repair before it can be sold, can Cream City Music fix it?

A: Yes, Cream City employs one of the absolute best Master Luthiers in area, and we out-source amplifier repair to a very qualified repair tech who is licensed for repair by most major brands. Both of these gentlemen do exceptional work and have incredibly fair rates. We can help you get your instrument or amplifier in tip top condition to insure it will sell for the highest possible price. We can offer that such repairs be deducted from the consignee’s payout so you will have nothing to pay upfront for your consignment with us.

Q: What happens when the timeline on the contract is up?

A: We can either return the consignment to you, or try to sell it again! At this point we may consider re-evaluation of the asking price.

Q: Can I waive the posting of my consignment on eBay in favor of selling the item locally in order to retain the fees that would otherwise be deducted from the seller’s consignment percentage?

A: No. Our consignment rates are based on the goal of selling your item by any means necessary and as quickly as possible. We assume responsibility of all subsequent fees and costs associated with the sales on or off eBay. Essentially, our consignment percentage is fair, and we incur all the costs of online posting.
